Born in Korea and raised in Aspen, Colorado, Chef Akira Back’s work not only ranges from
opening restaurants in North America, the Middle East, and Asia, but also television appearances
on shows such as The Iron Chef America, The Today Show, and Food Network’s Best Thing
I Ever Ate. He has been awarded the title of “Rising Star” in 2008 by Restaurant Hospitality
and has had the distinct honour of hosting six prestigious James Beard House dinners.
His restaurant Yellowtail Restaurant & Lounge gave him the title of “Best Chef in Las Vegas” by Las Vegas
Weekly, and he has participated in some of the culinary world’s most prestigious events, including Food
& Wine Classic in Aspen, Pebble Beach Food & Wine and Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit amongst others.
His menus embody classic cuisine reinvented into bold, innovative dishes, and he
continues to use the freshest products of the highest quality for discerning diners. His
ingenuity has made him the chef he is today, interpreting Asian cuisine with American flair.
