It was with an education in the UK, Switzerland, Germany and Spain, a sound base in foreign languages and an enthusiasm for wine that Christopher Cannan decided to enter the wine trade as a young man. He spent most of 1970 travelling through Europe’s main wine producing regions, working in cellars and vineyards to pay his way. After working in the industry for several years, he opened his own company ‘Europvin’ in 1978. The wine distribution company gradually expanded to cover the rest of the world and today forays into new emerging and exotic markets, remaining true to its philosophy of selecting the finest possible wines that truly represent their origin. In 1997 Christopher purchased his own vineyard Clos Figueras in the Priorat region, further consolidating his commitment to Spanish wines. His service to French wines was acknowledged in 1999 with a nomination as a ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole’ by the French government.
