The Charity Dinner is a signature event that has a history of garnering international accolades. WGS 2016 edition will be no different, as it celebrates the world’s finest flavours, extraordinary wines and a unique dining experience.  Guests at the Charity Dinner can look forward to an array of delectable discoveries, the presence of International guest chefs, exciting performances and a “Live Auction”. Over the past decade, the annual WGS Charity Gala Dinner has raised more than $5 million for over 200 social service programmes supported by Community Chest. Each year, the event is well-attended by society’s elites, senior corporate leaders and government officials.
 
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, WGS 2016 is working with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), a charity that provides care and support for patients with kidney-related diseases. The foundation also works to create public awareness of kidney disease and the ways to prevent its onset. In light of this collaboration, the Charity Gala Dinner will steer towards the importance of healthy eating with the dinner theme being “Mindful Eating”. During the gala dinner, an auction will take place, with all funds raised being donated to NKF. These funds will not only go towards providing dialysis for patients, but will also be directed towards education of and prevention efforts against kidney diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, both of which are leading causes of kidney failure.
