Jerry Comfort
Jerry Comfort, Wine Education Manager of Beringer Vineyards is a Certified Wine Educator with the Society of Wine Educators and holds the WSET advanced certification with Merit. In 2003, Jerry published the definitive guide to cheese and wine pairing “The Progressive Wine and Cheese Pairing Wheel”. He also introduced the wine and food in balance tool, the “Progressive Food Menu”, and “Fishing For Pairings”, a study on Wine and Seafood Pairing in 2004. Having joined Beringer as Executive Chef in 1991, Jerry's previous experience included a tenure as Executive chef at Checkers hotel in Los Angeles. Under his helm, Checkers was named one of the top 10 restaurants in the nation by Esquire magazine. He has also been the guest instructor at renowned educational institutions such as the Culinary Institute of America in New York and Napa Valley, L’Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, and has trained numerous staff at reputable restaurants and hotels worldwide, including Singapore’s Raffles, Bangkok’s Peninsula and the Ritz-Carlton. |
