Born in Florence, Giovanni Manetti graduated from the University of Economy, Florence in 1989. In 1979 he began working in the family winery, owned by the Manetti’s since 1968, and learned all aspects of wine production on the job and through personal studies. Well travelled, Manetti has visited most major wine producing countries. Presently he is co-owner and sole manager of Fontodi winery, a member of the Board of the Consorzio del Chianti Classico and chairman of Unione Viticoltori di Panzano. When he is not creating the delicious wines for which Tenuta Fontodi is known, Manetti enjoys hunting, motorcycling and boating.
