Born into a wine-making family, Paolo De Marchi’s father purchased the Isole e Olena estate after World War II. After graduating from the Agricoltural University of Torino in 1976 and spending some time in California, Paolo involved himself in the family estate. He dedicated endless effort in reshaping viticulture; focusing on quality and producing the best possible sangiovese that balances elegance, finesse and power to yield wines that are a unique expression of the site. In recent years, with the help of his son Luca, Paolo has embarked on a new project - to bring the vineyard at Proprietà Sperino, originally owned by his family in the 1800’s, to new life and put Northern Piedmont back on the map of the world’s finest wines. |
