The Opening Reception is the launch pad of the World Gourmet Summit. A dazzling display of Singapore's finest culinary talents, be courted by the myriad cuisines and artful plating by some of the best local independent restaurants and fine wines provided by Top Wines.

A food critic, writer and TV personality, Chef Wan, will be showcasing his signature dishes at the StraitsKitchen. Savour the richness of Malay cuisine as Chef Wan takes charge of the Malay and dessert section, assisted by the kitchen team of the Grand Hyatt Singapore. There will also be an opportunity to pick up a tip or two as Chef Wan will be conducting a cooking class where he will share the skills of creating authentic Malay cuisine.

Join DJ Brian Richmond as he picks up a tip or two from Chef Wan on the art of entertaining. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Singapore Cheshire Home, the adopted charity of Gold 90.5FM.

For the first time ever, ten leading restaurants will be joining in the WGS celebrations with their special celebratory menus and activities. These ten restaurants will present their specialties as well as showcase their unique expertise in feature activities that includes Chinese tea appreciation, sake/tempura pairings, charcuterie lessons and the wine and chocolate dinner.

Constantly coming up with creative concepts to infuse Chinese herbs into cuisines, there is no doubt that EYS is at the forefront of Chinese gourmet herbal cuisine. This high-tea by Eu Yan Sang, held for the first time at the WGS 2006, is yet another innovative notion by EYS following the 'Five Treasures' Dinner at WGS2005 and the Gourmet Herbal Dinner in WGS 2004. With "wellness" as the key to this high-tea, enjoy a nutritional high-tea with chinese herbs courtesy of Eu Yan Sang.
