National Kitchen by Violet Oon is a celebration of fine local flavours reflecting Singapore’s colourful culinary heritage. This restaurant is located on the 2nd level of the former Singapore City Hall, now part of Singapore’s newly opened National Gallery. The menu showcases authentic Nyonya cuisine and Singapore dishes from Violet’s growing up years and her 50 year’s old recipe collection which have come from Singapore’s homes and professional chefs.
Singapore’s well-loved Fish Head Curry, Chilli Crab and Satay are joined by Hakka Abacus Beads, perfect with house-made chutneys and Eurasian Prawn Sambal to name a few. Dishes which have become associated with Violet Oon now found in Violet Oon Singapore- Bukit Timah outlet are featured on the menu in the National Kitchen. We are committed to upholding authentic time-honoured recipes and cooking without shortcuts or compromises. Dining with us at National Kitchen by Violet Oon is like enjoying a meal in Violet’s own home. Every mouth full of each dish is scrumptious and comforting, bringing warmth to your soul. Violet’s culinary journey as a food journalist and friend of chefs, in homes and professional kitchens, has mirrored the culinary journey in Singapore and reflected in the National Kitchen are our shared memories of foods brought to our country by our immigrant forefathers- reflected in our Peranakan, Malay, Chinese, Indian, colonial and diverse heritage from many different cultures. These shared memories come to life in the food served at your table and also on our memory Walls where we showcase the life and times of Singapore food found on our streets, at homes and in our restaurants. |
