Sailor was founded in 1911 in Hiroshima Japan by Mr. Kyogoro Sakata for the production of fountain pens, after getting inspiration to form the company after a visiting British Sailor had shown him a fountain pen from the west. Sailor became the first company to produce fountain pens in Japan and has since established itself as one of the oldest companies in the writing Instruments business. Sailor’s nib master, Nobuyoshi Nagahara is the specialist who has worked in the Hiroshima factory for almost 60 years, taking charge of nib production and inspection to ensure the highest quality pens produced. Mr. Nagahara also makes his own specialised nibs which are now recpgnised by the specialists and collectors from around the world. |
