When
Alexander Chivas died, the business passed to Alexander's
former clerk, Alexander Smith, and his partner, Charles Stewart
Howard. They promptly set about creating a blend that would
live up to the exceptional standards set by James Chivas nearly
half a century before. The result became what is possibly
the world's most famous whisky - Chivas Regal.
Despite World War I and the constraints of American Prohibition,
Chivas Brothers continued to prosper and in 1936, the firm
became a Limited Liability Company (Corporation in the US),
and registered as Chivas Brothers Ltd. The company was growing,
but its philosophy and its total commitment to quality stayed
the same. Today, the rich, smooth, full taste of Chivas Regal
is enjoyed all over the world.

In 1879, Eu Kong left his village in southern China to
seek his fortune in Malaya. When he settled down in a small
mining town of Gopeng, Perak, he noticed that the local
tin miners took to opium to ease the pains caused by the
grueling demands of mining. The industrious man introduced
Chinese herbal remedies to the locals to help them alleviate
physical sufferings and to boost their health. This gave
birth to the first ever Eu Yan Sang. The company's name
'Yan Sang' literally means 'caring for mankind'. When Eu
Kong's eldest son, Eu Tong Sen took over his father's business,
he expanded it to Hong Kong and China. The enterprising
man was also established as one of the leading tin miners
and rubber planters in Malaya and Singapore. After 120 years,
Eu Yan Sang still holds fast to its founder's promise to
care for mankind.
