GLOBAL WINNER OF THE S.PELLEGRINO 2015 YOUNG CHEF OF THE WORLD Mark Moriarty participated the 2015 S.Pellegrino Young Chef of the World competition in Milan, Italy. Mark Moriarty emerged as the Irish - UK regional winner through a local competition held in London; Represeinting his region in a global cook off against 19 other international regions, Moriarty won the prestigious title of S.Pellegrino 2015 Young Chef of the World. Judging the competition were luminaries from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Mark Moriarty began working in the kitchen at age 15 during summer holidays in Dingle. In Dublin, studying for a degree in culinary arts, Mark worked at two of Ireland’s best restaurants. In 2013 he was awarded the title of Irish Young Chef of the Year. By 2015, he was running his pop-up 'Culinary Counter' in Dublin with fellow Chef Ciaran Sweeney. Mark’s food is simple, confident and focused. Dishes are classically based while presenting Irish food in a new and innovative way. Since winning the S.Pellegrino 2015 Young Chef of the World, Mark has had the chance to showcase his food at a joint dinner with one star Pietro Leamann at Identica Golose during EXPO Milano 2015, he worked at Massimo Bottura’s "Reffatorrio Ambrosiano" project in Milan, was guest chef at Taste of Dublin and Electric Picnic, all the while operating ‘sold out’ pop-up dinners in Dublin. |
