Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, of a Paraguayan father and a Russian mother, Ivan Aquino spent his childhood growing up in the Netherlands.

While studying for his Bachelors Degree in International Marketing he had his first introduction into the wine world, when he spent six months living in the French wine capital, Bordeaux. Aquino later travelled around many cities, including Oporto in Portugal, Barcelona in Spain, London in the UK, before ending up in Barcelona again.

In January 2005 Aquino moved back to Barcelona and started working as an Export Manager for a smaller wine and cava producer in the Penedes area called Vallformosa. With his Russian background he was able to open this difficult market for this producer. After almost 3 good years at Vallformosa he moved to Torres in October 2007. After a full year at Torres he is now also responsible for the South East Asian market.

In 2004, he obtained the Advance Certificate in Wine and Spirits (WSET), and is currently studying for the Diploma level.
