Catch Chef André Magalhães, chef/owner of Taberna da Rua das Flores, as he collaborates with Chef Tiago Martins of TUGA Singapore to bring his take on Portuguese food. See a strong focus on local seasonal products that translates to a more modern interpretation of Portuguese cuisine, paired with wines and port from Portugal like the Branco da Gaivosa, the Quinta da Gaivosa, and the Hugo Mendes line of wines . It’s a night at the exclusive area of Dempsey where for just one night, Chef Magalhães and Chef Martins will show you a slice of their beloved country under the canopy of stars amongst the velvet skies.
ALVES DE SOUSA
Domingos Alves de Sousa has redefined Portuguese wine, having developed his own approach to viticulture and a distinct vision of what makes great wine. He preserves the old family vineyards, cultivating them sustainably and avoiding any type of chemical or technological interference. His wines are characterised by their pure fruit and aromatic intensity, paired with an ability to age in the bottle for years. Domingos’ vineyards are located in the northern part of Portugal’s Douro Valley, which is composed of three individual regions with different soils and climates: the hillsides between Peso da Régua and Pinhão; the moist valley floor between Peso da Régua and Castelo de Paiva; and a diverse landscape with dry rubble throughout the entire region.

Hugo Mendes
Hugo Mendes fell in love with the art of wine making when he worked as a cellar rat in 2004 and has never looked back since, rising up the ranks from cellar rat to winemaker and then wine producer, in a career spanning 18 years. In 2016, he undertook a new challenge: to create his own brand of wine. He hit that objective with the Hugo Mendes Lisboa 2016, which was bottled with the help of crowdfunding online. With new wines developed every year in small batches, Hugo Mendes is an innovator and a perfectionist in his own field, always looking for the artisanal, personal touch.

These are all exceptional wines that have pedigree and great vintage, thanks to the knowledge and guardianship of the family that runs these vineyards. The Roquette family has overseen the exceptional Quinta do Crasto brand for over three centuries. Since 1615, this traditional dedication to excellence has been handed down from one generation to the next. Today, Quinta do Crasto is a property of 135 hectares of land in the heart of the Douro region, with vineyards mostly planted on terraces carved from schist rock that allows the roots to penetrate deep in search of water.
