Permata Singapore Located at Gedung Kuning
Boasting over 10,000 square feet, Gedung Kuning was built in the late 1850s and it’s exterior was inspired by the Palladian architecture which is a European architectural style that was trendy back in the day. The interior of Gedung Kuning, like the former Istana Kampong Glam next to it, follows the design of a traditional Malay house.
In 1864, the youngest son of the Sultan of Johor, Tengku Mahmud, named his mansion Gedung Kuning which means Yellow Mansion, after its yellow walls. Yellow is a royal colour commonly associated with Malay Sultans.
Fast forward 2021, Gedung Kuning is Singapore’s first Nusantara lifestyle destination with 4 different offerings - Permata Singapore for Nusantara Buffet, Amazing Chambers Singapura, an escape room with games based on Singapore’s history, and we will soon have Weddings and Community Events.
