The restaurant boasts a walk-in wine cellar that holds over 30 different styles of wine from over 80 Old and New World wine producers in 20 different countries, of which 80 percent are exclusive to The Wine & Gourmet Friends. This vast collection is carefully curated by internationally certified wine specialist and co-owner Wiliam Seah, with a heavy emphasis on featuring small, boutique, family-owned wineries from all over the world that significantly display the purity, the origin, the tradition & culture of the regions that they come from. This strategic and efficient collaborative partnership eliminating multiple tiers of middlemen translates into the restaurant’s ability to pass the savings on and provide value-for-money quality wines to their guests. Also, with these close relationships formed with family-run winemakers around the world, guests often get to enjoy private wine events and tastings with visiting wine producers or wine representatives organised at the restaurant.
As not just wine, but also pork specialists, the chefs at The Wine & Gourmet Friends put in a tremendous amount of effort and time into research and development to come up with exceptional pork dishes for their guests. They pride themselves in introducing dishes of different pork cuts every month, some being the pork collar, ribs, pork belly and knuckle. The pork used are of a premium quality, and are free of antibiotics and hormones, to make true their commitment of serving only the best to their guests.
Beyond that, many of the dishes served at The Wine & Gourmet Friends (TWGF) are skillful adaptations of dishes that in house Chefs Wilson and Gus grew up with. Their competent combination of Asian and Western flavours and cooking techniques result in dishes that are both big on flavours and with twists that surprise the palate, yet easily recognisable from the first spoonful.
Diners can look forward to these Asian-style bites and highlights such as Prawn & Seafood Bites - an elevated rendition of Chef Wilson’s mum’s traditional dep fried prawn rolls, Foie Gras Lotus Leaf Rice and Roast Pork Bely, among others.
Even when the kitchen closes on Sunday, The Wine & Gourmet Friends stays open from noon to 9 PM to offer guests a unique experience. Guests are invited to Bring Your Own Food – home-cooked or otherwise – for a day out with family and friends. Guests need only order a bottle of wine (minimum one bottle for every four guests) to enjoy their meal in the comfort of the bistro. Wiliam and his team will be on hand to help guests with pairing for whatever they are partaking of for that afternoon.
From the passion of the culinary team to provide all guests with a memorable food journey to the resident wine guru’s - sparing no efforts in sourcing for quality wines, every little detail is a testament to the belief that friendships are forged and flourish over god wines and heart-warming food - a belief that TWGF was founded on.
