Gallo Brand
Our roots - A worldwide heritage, crafted by passion. The origin of Gallo dates back to the late 1900s. Two generations, a father and a son, both named Victor Guedes, were responsible for the inception of the company. As managers, they had a forward-thinking vision: olive oil was not to be seen only as a household consumption product. It should be acknowledged as one of the country’s cultural identity symbol. Much like the Portuguese, who ventured overseas in the 14th century, Victor Guedes was a man opened to the world. The Gallo brand’s presence in Latin America and Africa can be traced all the way back to 1903. Today, we celebrate this legacy with the iconic Gallo brand, endorsed by our heritage - displayed by the distinctive signature of our founder on every bottle - but keeping our eyes on the future. The Legend behind our name. Legend has it that Victor Guedes, founder of the brand, decided to name the olive oil “Gallo” (Portuguese for rooster) when he woke up one morning and opened his bedroom windows, two at a time to the sound of a cock-a-doodle-dooing. As Victor Guedes was originally from Galicia he registered the trademark with two L’s, a name that has been kept until today because of its singular traits and originality. The Gallo brand was registered in 1919. Our 100 years of mastery in Selection & Blending brings out our uttermost respect for nature and its cycles - our richest asset. Out of respect for that endeavor, we use it to perfect the art of crafting wholesome flavors. We believe that every food experience can be enhanced and become an unforgettable moment. For some, food is a part of life. According to Gallo, life is to be lived by food experiences. For us, food is more than just food. Food is about sensations, feelings, emotions. It feeds the soul, brings happiness and unites people. Exquisite flavors, mouthwatering aromas, bright colors, yummy textures, a truthful respect for the integrity of ingredients, a renewed passion in every detail and an obsession with the finest quality - all these are essential elements for a remarkable sensory experience. People are eager for experiences, for collecting moments that elevate the beauty of living. Our commitment is to inspire people to enjoy every food experience.
