Transformed from the Fullerton building which was built in 1928, it was once home to the General Post Office, The Singapore Club and the Chamber of Commerce. After an S$400 million makeover, The hotel officially opened her doors on January 1, 2001 and now, the Fullerton Hotel Singapore is a luxury hotel with 400 rooms and suites carefully designed to provide both business and leisure travellers with a sanctuary of serenity and comfort in which to retreat and rejuvenate. A History of The Fullerton Hotel
The Fullerton Building was named after Robert Fullerton, the first governor of the Straits Settlements (1826–1829) and commissioned in 1919 as part of the British colony's centennial celebrations. During WWII, it was used as a hospital and in the post-war years, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore used the building as its headquarters. In 1997, Sino Land (Hong Kong) Company Ltd, a sister company of Far East Organisation, acquired The Fullerton Building from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and created the hotel that it is today.
