Gan Swee Lai's passion for cooking took root after joining the Stamford School of Culinary and Service Management Group of Colleges in Malaysia. Broadening his experience and culinary career at Hotel Equatorial in Kuala Lumpur, the dedicated chef then went regional, taking a position with Sheraton Towers Singapore followed by The Regent Singapore. Thereafter, he moved on to the Oaks Grill & Bar before joining Gordon Grill at the invitation of the Goodwood Park Hotel.


Believing in giving his guests a memorable experience, he motivates himself with the smiles on the faces of his guests at the end of a meal. Constantly on the prowl for new ingredients and seasonal products, the inquisitive chef enjoys experimenting with different produce and coming up with new creations. His creativity has led him to the title of the Top 3 Most Promising Chefs (Western cuisine) in the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2006-2007: Singapore Series.
