Heng Eng Ho
With over 20 years of experience under his belt, Penang-born Chef Ho is a humble food maestro that constantly seeks to reinvent the way Peranakan cuisines, and its rich culture, can be preserved and enjoyed by all.
He had the privilege to be mentored under various talented chefs during the early days of his career, and that helped to shape his distinct style of combining different elements into his culinary creations. His love for Peranakan cuisines was planted during his childhood days, when he tried Assam Laksa for the very first time - Chef Ho was mesmerized by that flavour reminiscence of the rich heritage Peranakans are known for, and he yearned to embark on a journey uncovering this gem of the Straits- Chinese. With his dedication and passion, Chef Ho’s career took flight and he has since enjoyed a reputation for creating heart-warming dishes that are well-loved by all his patrons. Exploring different cuisines has allowed Chef Ho to broaden his knowledge and expertise as a chef. He is constantly searching for the best vintage recipe, and to re-create flavours that bring him back in time when his grandmother would fuss over the stove with her treasured troves of recipes passed down from generation. To him, the greatest satisfaction is also the simplest one - the joy in seeing his guests relishing in the dishes he creates. “The best flavour, is the one you derive from being able to share and enjoy with your loved ones”, Chef Ho quotes. With his flair for creating and harmonising unique flavours, Chef Ho looks to preserving the Peranakan culture by keeping the flame alive, one dish at a time. |
