Daisuke Kawai
Daisuke Kawai is co-founder and Chief Sommelier at La Terre. He has over twenty years of experience in the F&B industry, much of which has been focused on wine, and La Terre is a culmination of this experience.
Kawai previously held the position of Chief Sommelier with the Les Amis group for three years and was awarded the coveted title of Best Sommelier of the Year at the Singapore World Gourmet Series Awards of Excellence for 2013. He has received numerous other accolades, including winner of the Academy of Wines Portugal Singapore 2015 and finalist in the Sommelier Challenge Singapore 2013. Far from being just a sommelier, Kawai is also a restaurant service professional, with experience in managing both fine and casual dining establishments. Kawai’s work philosophy is centered heavily around hospitality. Devoted to serving each customer with both speed and elegance, he seeks to make each customer feel comfortable and happy, which he prizes over any wine selection. Kawai also prides himself on upholding the strictest standards in the service of wines and paying attention to the finest details. Driven by the desire to seek improvement constantly, Kawai is driven by the idea that nothing can be good enough. |
