André Magalhães is chef at “Taberna da Rua das Flores” one of Lisbon’s most celebrated restaurants.

Just this year André launched three new concept food stalls at Mercado Oriental, Lisbon’s first Asian Hawker center.

André i salso the acting gastronomical consulting chef with Omali Lodge, an Eco-Resort in the island of São Tomé in Africa where he is implementing a Sustainable Food Programme.

Previously he was chef the cuisine at the prestigious Lisbon Press Club.

He is a regular at International Food & Wine Summits where he learns and shares the tricks of the trade through conferences and show-cooking sessions.

As a journalist André writes about food and wine matters for several national and international publications, a member of FIJEV (International Federation of Wine and Spirits Journalists and Writers) and an international judge in wine and olive oil competitions he has conquered the “Taster Trophy” at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

André holds a post-grad in Food Science and teaches in the Masters of Food Science of the Science and Technology Faculty of UNL/ISA.

In his previous life he was once a film producer and director, having had stints as a sailor, a polyglot tourist guide as well as a set decorator, mostly as a kitchen aid or a line cook... but he’s really just always been an avid traveller.

In his free time André likes to forage the forests or the seashore. As an active member of the Slow Food Movement he defends rural life and sustainable food producing methods.
